A Boarding Weekend That Feels Like a Retreat.

$50 a Night · everything included

Food handled, medication given, daily play, and professional trainers watching your dog the whole stay. The one and only extra is a $28 daycare charge on pick-up day, and you hear about it here, not at the counter.

Most kennels hand your dog to whoever clocked in that morning. Here, the people caring for your dog are the same professional trainers who rehabilitate reactive dogs for a living. Every dog is temperament-assessed before it joins the pack, so your dog comes home safe, exercised, and cared for by people who actually know dogs. Go enjoy your weekend without the pit in your stomach.

They Feared the Worst. They Never Left Again.

★★★★★

"I could not be more happy with my ongoing experience with Ridgeside and my dogs trainer Brandt. When I had my dog assessed I was expecting to be denied boarding and feared the worst. Brandt put me at ease and saw hope in my dog that I had lost. Ridgeside has now taken the place of my family for boarding. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my dog."

"My 8-month-old puppy Mae boarded for 3 weeks to establish a solid training foundation. Working with Brandt was fantastic. Mae's constantly with me as I work from home, so leaving her was hard, but after the first week I saw she was thriving. I strongly recommend Ridgeside!"

"I can't say enough good things about Brent and the work he did with my two Rottweilers. In 6 weeks he completely transformed both dogs. They are powerful dogs with behavioral challenges, and Brent brought them to a place where they are now calm, structured, and able to live together peacefully. The daily updates and detailed materials showed how invested he truly was."

"I couldn't be more grateful to have found this place! Ace came from a shelter and before that was a stray. Brandt was Ace's trainer, and his communication and overall care were amazing. From day one he made us feel completely at ease leaving our dog with him. The daily updates showed how excited he was about every obstacle Ace overcame."

"So far I have been having an amazing interaction with this company. I just adopted my dog Copper. I am retiring from the military and going to bring him here for his training to be my service dog. The owner has been extremely patient, answering all of my questions. Bryant kept me updated every single step of the way. Highly recommend!"

Why Ridgeside K9 Tidewater

A Training Facility That Also Boards.

A kennel stores your dog. We look after it. Ridgeside K9 Tidewater is a professional dog training facility first, so the team watching your dog over the weekend is the same crew that rehabilitates reactive dogs for a living. That's the difference between a cage with a water bowl and your dog actually being cared for.

  • Trainers on site, not a kennel crew. Trained professionals with real experience caring for animals.
  • Every dog is screened first. New dogs get a temperament assessment before they ever join the pack.
  • Fresh food, water, clean bedding, daily. Elevated cots and real bedding, plus indoor and outdoor time every day.
  • We take dogs other places decline. Reactive, anxious, or turned away elsewhere. Tell us straight and we'll tell you straight back.

Common questions

Before You Book.

What does boarding cost, and what is included?

Overnight boarding is $50 per night. That covers fresh food and water, clean bedding, your own food and feeding instructions followed exactly, medication on your schedule, and indoor and outdoor time every day. The one additional charge is $28 for daycare on pick-up day.

Is there a charge on pick-up day?

Yes, and we'd rather you heard it here than at the counter. The last day of an overnight stay is billed as a $28 daycare day on top of the $50 per night. A two-night stay is $100 plus $28.

Do you require vaccinations?

Yes, your dog needs to be current on vaccinations before boarding. Call or text 757-514-3242 and we'll confirm exactly which records to bring for your dates.

Can I bring my dog's own food?

Yes, and we'd rather you did. Provide the type of food and any do's and don'ts, and we follow your instructions to a tee. Dogs on a special diet don't get switched to house food here.

Can you give my dog medication?

Yes. Our staff handles scheduled medication, and we work with dogs who have arthritis and other age-related needs. Send the medication with written instructions and we follow them.

Is there an assessment before the first stay?

Yes. Every new dog gets a temperament assessment before its first boarding stay. It's not a hurdle, it's how we keep the pack safe and how we know where your dog fits.

What are drop-off and pickup hours?

The facility is open Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 6 PM. Weekends are by appointment only, so call or text 757-514-3242 to arrange a weekend drop-off or pickup. Early weekday drop-off is there specifically for people who have to be at work.

My dog is reactive, anxious, or was turned away somewhere else. Will you take them?

Bring us the honest version and we'll give you an honest answer. One of our Google reviewers came in expecting to be denied boarding and left with a plan instead. Because we're a training facility, we're set up for dogs a standard kennel is not.

Can I add training to a boarding stay?

Yes. Board and train runs out of the same building with the same trainers, so a stay can be a stay or a stay plus a program. Ask on the call and we'll tell you what makes sense for your dog and your dates.

How far in advance should I book?

Holidays and school breaks fill first, so the earlier the better. Call or text 757-514-3242 or send the form and we'll tell you straight away whether we have room for your dates.
